Saint Sylvester was made an Oratory on July 1, 2002. It is a part of Saint William Parish, which includes all of Laurel and Clay counties. St. William is our mother church and St. Ann in Manchester is a mission in our parish. St. Sylvester was established in 1888 by Father Joseph Volk and was administered by the Benedictine Fathers of St. Bernard's Abbey in Cullman Alabama until 1949 when it became part of the Parish of St. Andrew. St. Andrew's name was later changed to St. William. Because we are affiliated with St. William, you will find much much more information about our common parish by going to the St. William site, http://london.cdlex.org.
